BV Trust Maker_ Chantal Fares

Introducing:

Chantal Fares

Can you briefly explain your background?

I am from Lebanon, grew up in a historic village up north. Although construction sector was still male dominated, with the support of my family, I pursued my Civil Engineering Masters at the Lebanese University, specialized in buildings and infrastructure. I started my career as a self-employed engineer and worked on the rehabilitation of my grandparents traditional heritage house, among some other projects in Africa.

Describe your role at BV?

I started working at Bureau Veritas Lebanon in 2012, as a Civil Engineer in the Construction Technical Control Department. In addition to my civil engineer role, I also covered the job of an Auditor for the Certification department.

Elaborate an experience in BV that you feel empowered.

Joining BV gave me the opportunity to widen my field of knowledge and expertise. Part of the job as a project coordinator, is to be in charge of a specific site, from the beginning till the end of our missions. Being involved in the decisions making process and in direct contact with the owners and representatives, make me feel effective with a certain degree of autonomy and responsibility. Demanding circumstances helped me grow my leadership abilities and problem solving capabilities aiming for improved project management competency. I feel proud knowing that my skills are appreciated and my work is trustworthy.

What do you want to advice to other women?

Continuous self- improvement, commitment, coping with challenges and meeting clients’ expectations are the keys for success. No matter how small the scale is, with a positive attitude, good communication and the power of teamwork, you can leave your mark.
