Bureau Veritas accredited for Energy Audits by Dubai’s Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau (RSB)

The Regulatory and Supervisory Bureau (RSB) for electricity and water in Dubai plays a critical role in developing regulatory frameworks that foster economic growth by ensuring a secure energy supply and promoting efficient energy use, while also meeting environmental and sustainability objectives.

This accreditation marks a significant milestone in our efforts to advance Dubai’s sustainable energy agenda, in line with the Dubai Integrated Energy Strategy 2030 (DIES) and the Demand Side Management Strategy (DSM). By 2030, the RSB aims to increase energy efficiency by 30% and diversify the energy supply mix to include renewables, coal, and nuclear energy, in addition to gas, which currently dominates electricity generation.

The RSB’s role in promoting energy efficiency is reinforced through its accreditation schemes for energy service companies and auditors, designed to build trust and streamline processes for certified entities, thereby ensuring the effective implementation of energy-saving measures.

An energy audit is fundamental to the success of retrofit projects. It involves a detailed inspection, survey, and analysis of energy flows within a building, process, or system, with the objective of reducing energy consumption without affecting performance. At a minimum, the audit provides a comprehensive description of the building, including its structure, energy and water consumption, and associated costs, along with recommendations for appropriate technical and organizational measures to improve energy efficiency.
