Bureau Veritas, a world leader in testing, inspection, and certification, has been awarded the Owner's Engineering services contract by TotalEnergies for significant wind and solar energy projects in Oman. The projects, developed in partnership with OQ Alternative Energy (OQAE), the National Renewable Energy Champion of Oman, aim to deliver 300 MW of renewable energy under long-term Power Purchase Agreements (PPA) with Petroleum Development Oman (PDO), the leading exploration and production company in the Sultanate.
The Riyah-1 and Riyah-2 Wind Farms, each with a capacity of 100 megawatts (MW), are strategically located in Amin and Nimr West, capitalizing on the region's favorable wind conditions. Both projects are anticipated to become operational by 2026. Additionally, the North Oman Solar PV Plant will feature a 100 MW solar photovoltaic-based Independent Power Producer (IPP).
The agreement between TotalEnergies and Bureau Veritas encompasses project management, design review, and pre-construction assessment. Bureau Veritas will deliver construction supervision, health and safety oversight, environmental compliance monitoring, claims management, and testing and inspection supervision, along with manufacturing quality control and assurance.
