Introducing: Georges El-Ibry

Can you briefly explain your background?

Holding an Engineering Degree in Agronomy and Food Technology, I started my career with Bureau Veritas in 2001 as Project Quality Manager and Certification Lead Auditor in Lebanon. In 2007, I joined the regional team in Dubai, and I was promoted as Food Product Manager and Deputy Certification Manager for Middle East, India, Russia & Africa. I handled many positions such as Certification “Large Contracts & Key Accounts Manager” for MICA Zone within the Industry & Facilities Division, Regional Food Service Line Manager for Commodities, Industry & Facilities Division Middle East and Regional Certification Manager for Middle East.

Describe your role at BV?

Currently I am the Regional Manager for Certification Business Line in the Middle East. My role is to ensure Certification operations as per BV requirements, to participate at Group Service Line-CERMAG representing Middle East, key projects deployment at regional & country level, to be the focal/contact point for the Certification Network, Group Service Line & TQR, procedural adherence to accreditation bodies & Certification Marketing & Sales requirements throughout the region, analyze the Certification Performance and define action plans, and to manage and ensure LTO compliance.

What’s your greatest professional achievement and your biggest challenge?

One of my professional achievements was winning the Asia Pacific Middle East first prize Award 2020 for the “Best Leadership Project” along with Middle East Team by Developing Crisis and Strategic Communication during COVID-19 Pandemic for the Restart Your Business Project.

Another recent achievement is being nominated to be a member of the Certification Digital Project governance team at global level, selecting one country in Middle East to be 1 of 3 pilot countries, and being a member of the steering committee.

Heading certification business line at regional level comes with some challenges as it involves daily coordination and communication with teams in different countries with different cultures, languages, and ways of doing business.

In your daily work, how do you contribute to Shaping a World of Trust?

As a Regional Manager for certification working for a Business to Business to Society company, I am contributing to transforming the world we live in by helping clients across all industries to address challenges and get certified in quality, health & safety, environmental protection, social responsibility, and sustainability certification standards.
