Introducing: Racel Canaria

Can you briefly explain your background and describe your role at BV?

My professional journey started upon joining Bureau Veritas back in 2011, after earning my bachelor’s degree in Tourism. Initially hired as a Technical Assistant, I was later promoted as the Proposal Coordinator - HSE and Risk Services for the Technical Center Middle East Region based in Abu Dhabi.

In 2018, I successfully completed my master's degree in business administration, opening the door to a transition in my career path to a marketing role in the newly established Bureau Veritas Sales and Marketing for the Middle East Region based in Dubai.

Describe your role at BV?

Currently, I am the Marketing and Competitive Intelligence Manager for the Middle East and Caspian covering 20 countries. The role has grown into a multifaceted one, where the heart of my responsibilities revolves around analysis and design.

My duties encompass on one side, sales enablement, gathering market and competitive intelligence, and growth market research. While on the other end, I play a role in enhancing both BV Trust Makers and client engagement points, as well as designing and creating marketing collaterals across different business lines.

Elaborate an experience in BV that you feel empowered.

While it may seem bold, I find empowerment in being a Bureau Veritas cultivated professional. This sentiment reflects the career advancements and promotions I have held through the trust and adaptability instilled by mentors I had over the years. Mentors who consistently supported my curiosity, allowing me to plan, lead, and execute various initiatives, and projects for the region. And to the colleagues who encouraged me to assert my voice that allowed an environment where I can safely and comfortably contribute to the collective success of the team.

What do you want to advice to other women?

Advocate for yourself. Allow yourself to acknowledge even the small achievements as a moment of celebration. These prove your capacity to take on challenges and continue to thrive in environments that aren’t necessarily made with you in mind. Your successes, is not yours alone but for every woman who you may encounter that is searching to reflect what they, too, can achieve.
